Short Biography

Michael Visser studied econometrics at the university of Amsterdam, and earned his PhD in economics at the university of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is a CNRS research fellow, affiliated to CREST, the joint research center of Ecole Polytechnique and ENSAE. He is also affiliated to CRED, the research center of the university of Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. The common denominator of his research is applied microeconometrics. In recent years his work has focused on campaign spending and votes in French legislative elections, medals awarded at contests and their impact on wine prices, the productivity effects of wages determined through auctions, decisions of judges at the Paris Labor Court, and on modelling the survival times of viager sellers. He also teaches at ENSAE.
